It’s a Hoot!,, A beanie style hat done in beautiful cables to create an owl pattern all around thebrim. The “owls” eyes are buttons which are attached during the actual crochet work and not sewn after. So no sewing on later!!! Standard 5/8 Inch buttons were used, but pony beads may be used as well.

Stylish and classy for the adults and yet very cute and fun for the kids too!
Pattern is written in two sizes:
Adult size measures 20 Inches around X 8 1/2 Inches tall and has 6 “owls” around. Uses 12 Buttons.
Child/toddler size measures 17 Inches around X 7 Inches tall and has 5 “owls” around. Uses 10 Buttons.
Written in American Standard terms and knowledge of front post crochet is required. This is not a beginner pattern due to the cabling design.

  3. I bought this wonderful design recently. I wonder if you have a scarf to go with it? I find it difficult to convert the owl from the hat on to a standard scarf. Any help would be appreciated. I do not mind paying for a pattern.

P.S. The hat worked up beautifully.

  4. Hi Fisherwife,

I have worked the owls into a matching scarf that is worked in short rows. The pattern is currently in testing and will be available as soon as the testers finish. The scarf pattern will include 2 sizes: child and adult. I also left you a message on Raverly.

  8. I'm having difficulty with the button round. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my count is way off. Could I have made a mistake on the previous round.............. I had no idea that this pattern was going to be this challenging. Thanks for any assistance..............

  10. I purchased the owl hat pattern. I love your patterns. Your are extremely talented. I am working on the child size pattern. Took a while for me to get row 8 down but believe I have it correct. I am now having trouble with row 9. I can't get my count of the triple stitch to match the instructions on row 9. I believe my stitches match the Supplemental Chart (by the way chart is very helpful) but in row 9 it states FPDC in next 2 stiches then bdc in next triple. This is where I get lost. It says to stitch FPDC in next 4 stitches. The supplemental chart only has 4 Tr stiches and they are all grouped together. If I make 4 FPDC I am working them in the remaining 3 Tr stiches and next FPDC putting me past all of the Tr stitches in the 12 stitch chart used for row 8. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Joy
